Day 34...And today i had to ask public transport to "make a detour" this i did happily, i like making unreasonable requests of people i dont know... so i was waiting in billingham town centre for a bus to the boro, there i was drinking some fresh orange (which was delicious) in the pouring rain.. and along came a bus that i knew full well went nowhere near the boro.. so i waited till it pulled up.. jumped on and politely enquired... "alright mate, do you go to middlesbrough?" he responded, as i thought he might that they didnt.So i said "do you fancy droping me there anyway?" he laughed quite heartily and said "no mate.. no can do!".. i asked if he was sure.. he was.
So i took the apropriate bus to boro, then headed into town to get christmas stuff, got what i needed then headed home, however the bus i got on only goes as far as billingham town centre .. and i really didnt fancy the walk back in the lashing rain.. so i waited till we got to billingham.. then aproached the driver and asked " do you go to rievaulx avenue (right next to my house) knowing that he didnt .. "no i dont" he said..."well you taking me there?" i asked hopefully... "no mate im not a taxi" he replied abruptly.. he unlike his fellow driver i could tell wasnt as amused.. or in fact amused at all. fair dos i thought.. and set off to get soaked.
Well quiet kids get nowt as the saying (all be it very northern saying) goes!
On the way home i wondered if a small bribe would have persuaded either driver, I mean to drop me at my house would have been worth the extra 2 mins if id made it worth his while.. never mind bribing is another task for another day.
I did as required, failed on both occasions as i presume benrik would expect, as buses dont make detours and trains are incapable of doing so..BUT I DID ASK
MISSION COMPLETED.
